HIGHS
Strong engine choices, available luxury interior with Bose stereo, great handling. |
|
LOWS
No visual change from half-ton version (unlike Ford), predictably poor fuel economy. |
|
| |
WHAT'S NEW
Introduced for 2007; no major changes for 2008. |
|
BEHIND THE WHEEL
An overall more livable truck than the one it replaced, delivering an amazingly smooth ride even without a payload. Tows heavy loads like they’re filled with helium. |

CAPSULE REVIEW
GM’s Heavy Duty pickups (Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD) resemble their half-ton kin, but everything underneath is beefed up to haul more payload and tow up to 13,000 pounds. A Silverado 1500 won our last pickup comparo, and the HD version is more rugged but just as refined, so it too is at the top of its class. |
