HIGHS
Major-league muscle, improved dynamics, posh interior, firm brake pedal, extroverted exterior styling. |

Reduced towing capacity, hefty curb weight, skimpy third-row space, low mpg. |

WHAT'S NEW
Redesigned for 2007; no major changes for 2008; hybrid version coming for 2009. |

CAPSULE REVIEW
Like GM’s other full-size utes, the Escalade triplets were renewed for 2007 with more power, stiffer foundations, new interiors, new sheetmetal, and, of course, more brightwork. The Escalade is flashy, but we prefer its more refined competitors like the Mercedes GL450/550 or Audi Q7. |
